Organised by the Irish Charity Tax Reform Group, the conference ‘From Policy to Practice – Charity Regulation,’ will focus on what can be learned from regulation of UK charities. In anticipation of the publication of new charities’ legislation early next year in Ireland there will be discussion on self regulation of fundraising, SORP and special legal structures for charities. The opening address of the conference will be given by Sean Fleming, chairman of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Finance and the Public Service, on government policy in relation to charities and in particular taxation policy in the context of the new legislation.Key speakers from the UK include Lindsay Boswell, CEO of the Institute of Fundraising, Luke Fitzherbert, a director of the Directory of Social Change and Gavan Smith from conference sponsors, Triodos Bank.
